Low Carb Chicken Bacon Ranch Braid

I love all things cheesy and savory and this low carb chicken bacon ranch braid does not dissapoint. Rich, buttery low carb braid, which tangy cheesy, smokey filling is such a tasty combination. The fun part about the croissant/braid recipe I’m going to share is that it can be used for both savory and sweet recipes. So, use this dough to make an incredible low card breakfast braid either with eggs, bacon and cheese OR, sweety by adding a sweet cream cheese filling down the center topped with your choice of low carb jam or jelly. Either way, your taste buds will thank you!

Low Carb Chicken Bacon Ranch Braid Recipe:

For the braid dough:

  • 1-1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1-1/4 cups almond flour
  • 1 TBSP coconut flour
  • 1/4 tsp xanthan gum

Preheat oven to 350* Melt together the mozzarella cheese and cream cheese until completely melted. Mix and then add the rest of the dough ingredients – mixing well. I usually end up using my hands to “knead” this dough until the cheese is all incorporated. Line a baking pan with parchement paper and spray lightly with non stick spray. Pat the dough into a rectangle about 10×12 inches or until the dough is about 1/4 inch thick. Leave about a 4 inch space and then cut strips on either side of the dough as shown in the picture.

For the Filling:

Low Carb Chicken Bacon Ranch Braid
  • 1 Can Organic Chicken Breast
  • 1/4 c mayo
  • 1/4 c sour cream
  • 1-2 TBSP Dry Ranch Dressing (to your taste)
  • 4-6 slices cooked, chopped bacon
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • salt and pepper to taste

Mix the filling ingredients and spread filling down the center of your braid dough and then go back and forth pulling the cut strips to the center creating a braided look. Bake braid for 20 – 25 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool slightly, slice and enjoy!

My family loved this recipe. It’s simple, filling and delicious. You can pair a lighter salad or coleslaw with this dish. It doesn’t need much to go with it as it is rich and filling on it’s own. I also love to pair it with a glass of amazing wine such as a Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio. The perfect fine wine takes it to a whole new level of taste and enjoyment. See my favorite wines here!
